Washington, DC — Seventy of America’s top women leaders will meet here early next month to build a policy framework for a new national economic agenda that addresses the needs of families, communities and other critical economic issues challenging our country across the fifty states. The Center for Policy Alternatives (CPA) and The White House Office for Women’s Initiatives and Outreach are co-sponsors of the Women’s Economic Leadership Summit at The White House Conference Center April 3-5, 1997.
Women’s values are driving the national economy and their voices are reshaping the national agenda. The Summit brings together women leaders — representing millions more — who have redefined the focus from an agenda for American women, to an agenda for America from women.
President Clinton is scheduled for a briefing with participants on April 4. First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton is Honorary Chair for the Summit.
Linda Tarr-Whelan, CPA President and CEO and Betsy Myers, Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of Women’s Initiatives and Outreach are Summit conveners and principal planners of the event.
