The Center for Policy Alternatives & Lifetime Television Unveil Results of “Women’s Voices 2000” Focus Groups, Part of Most Comprehensive Polling Project on Women This Election Season

New York, July 25, 2000 – The Center for Policy Alternatives (CPA) and Lifetime Television will release the results of “Women’s Voices 2000” national focus groups, the most in-depth, nonpartisan, unbiased look at what women voters are thinking and what issues concern them most today, as the political season begins. The press briefing will be held at the Republican National Convention, on Tuesday, August 1, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., at the Philadelphia Marriott.

The focus group results will be presented by a bipartisan team of premier pollsters, Celinda Lake and Linda DiVall, moderated by Linda Tarr-Whelan, President and Chair of the Center for Policy Alternatives and Meredith Wagner, Senior Vice President, Public Affairs, Lifetime Television. Immediately following the presentation, Representative Jennifer Dunn (R-WA), State Representative Jackie Winters (R-OR), CEO of Prudential Institutional Jean Hamilton, and Lifetime’s Team2000 member Carolina Hinestrosa, will comment on the findings.

“Women’s Voices 2000” is a comprehensive national polling project, sponsored by CPA and Lifetime, with all polling and analysis conducted by Celinda Lake, Linda DiVall, Linda Williams, and Anna Rivera. The poll results, which will be released in September, will lift the critical issues facing women and families today — such as the workforce and the economy, health care, education, family economic security, diversity and crime — into the presidential election process and beyond. Women’s Voices is the first polling project of women by women that has consistently tracked women’s values and priorities since 1992.
