The Courage to Lead Annual Awards Dinner
June 22, 2000
In June, the Arthur S. Flemming Leadership Award will be presented to two outstanding state elected leaders—Wisconsin Representative Antonio Riley and Maine Senator Chellie Pingree, who combine a new style of leadership with an ability to forge solutions to tough problems. Mayor Anthony Williams will receive the Pathfinder Award for his vision and success in stabilizing the city government of Washington, D.C. and the Lifetime Achievement Award will be awarded to John Sweeney in recognition of his life of advocacy for working people.
At the benefit dinner on June 22, CPA will also introduce 35 future leaders from 29 states to Washington as we honor the 2000 graduating class of CPA’s Flemming Fellows Leadership Institute.
