Hispanic legislators at the Southwest Community Forum
were asked to list issues that were high priorities for them, their
constituents and their legislatures. The top vote-getter for most respondents was
education — education reform, bi-lingual education, education funding
and other cross-cutting education issues. Also high on the list were
welfare reform and economic development issues.
CPA will conduct issue polls among Action Network members
and Community Forum participants this summer to determine what the
hot issues are going into the 1999 state legislative sessions.
