CPA Launches 1998 Issue Forum Series
CPA’s1998 Issue Forum series brings together community activists and
businesses with elected leaders to discuss pending changes in public policy and how
these policies affect communities. Forum panelists present a cross-section of
perspectives, instigating issue-driven dialogue and debate among participants.
Participants exchange background materials, and synopses of presentations
are disseminated widely to CPA’s networks of policy leaders and on CPA’s website.
Last November, an Issue Forum on electric utility deregulation, sponsored by
the Edison Electric Institute and Enron Corporation, drew more than 75 state
legislators, business leaders and community advocates. (Summaries from this forum are available.)
The next Issue Forum, on Health Care Conversions and Low-Income Communities,
is April 16 in Washington, DC.
