Representatives of non-profits, community groups and small
business development organizations gathered in Crystal City, Virginia on November
12-13 to develop strategies to tap the resources of the $8 billion
telecommunications industry. The Community
Telecommunications Training Conference, co-sponsored by CPA and the
National Congress for Community Economic Development (NCCED), helped
participants strategize on how to build strong partnerships with
telecommunications companies in their areas and use
technology to create small enterprise opportunities and new revenue streams.
For many community groups, the primary challenge to building these
partnerships is learning how best to incorporate
telecommunications opportunities into community development plans.
