New CPA Health Care Publications!

Four new health care briefing books from CPA aim to de-mystify health care reform currently taking place. The briefing books, developed by CPA for the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, are based on a series of seminars that examined the policies and strategies of health care reform. Briefing books are available form $5.00 each or $15.00 for the set of four. Contact CPA at 202-387-6030 to order.

The Communities and Health Care Conversions briefing book examines non-profit to for-profit conversions in the health care marketplace, including the accountability and tax liability of these new institutions; the level of access facilities provide to the community; and the extent to which they offer community and consumer participation in decision making. (34 pp.)

Managed Care Approaches outlines the issues associated with the shift to a market-driven health care system and examines the potential of this model to provide mainstream health care for everyone. (30 pp.)

Purchasing Power in the Health Care Market studies the demand side of the health care equation, specifically private and public purchasers who have consolidated their buying power into purchasing cooperatives, coalitions and alliances. (34 pp.)

The Integrated Health Systems briefing book examines the success of emerging integrated delivery systems and/or networks — organizations that provide (or arrange to provide) services to a defined population and are held accountable for the health of that population. (45 pp.)
