CPA President and CEO Linda Tarr-Whelan testified
before the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations July 15 as part of the confirmation process to become U.S. Ambassador to the United
Nations Commission on the Status of Women. In 1996, Tarr-Whelan was appointed by President Clinton as U.S. Representative to the Commission ; the President later elevated that position to the rank of ambassador, which requires Senate confirmation. A member of the U.S. delegation to the 1995 Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing,
Tarr-Whelan will continue to serve full-time as President and CEO of CPA.
