CPA Leadership Programs Planned

Flemming Fellows Leadership Institute for Term-Limited States In fall 1997, the Flemming Fellows Leadership Institute for Term-Limited States will train legislators in one week-long session.

Flemming Fellows Alumni Conference An annual Alumni Conference will be held to reconnect Fellows in each class and focus on the substance of specific issues starting in fall, 1997.

Community Policy and Leadership Forums in the Southwest and West In addition to the African American/Southeastern Community Policy and Leadership Forum (CPLF), there will also be a Women and Families/Western CPLF beginning in fall, 1997 and a Hispanics/Southwestern CPLF in spring, 1998. The enthusiasm generated by the Southeast CPLF demonstrated the need for more regionally focused programs.

Communications Infrastructure Flemming Fellows Alumni, CPLF participants, CPA staff, policy and issue advocates and others soon will have access to an expanded and upgraded communications system that will include an Electronic Leadership Conference, an interactive website and powerful database. On-line seminars will address leadership and public policy issues. Access-limited email also will link legislators, community leaders and nonprofit representatives.
